Exif_JPEG_PICTUREChampex 1470 metres

13 miles Up and down.

Starting just off the main Grand Bernard road. We headed on a pleasant gradient between 8 and 11% towards the entrance of Gorges du Durnand passing ripe yellow and pink Apricots laden heavy trees. Vineyards making  patchwork quilts on the steep hillsides. A quiet road with some interesting switchbacks some over 11% but all enjoyable, tightly making our way steeply to the the Lac Champex. This pretty little ski village with a handful of hotels, cafes and bars. Rowing boats for hire and I’m sure fishing.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE A cloudy day didn’t do justice to the pretty Swiss countryside and the well kept chalets some with flags others just brightly painted shutters. The cloudy skies made the cycling a joy.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE An unusual Church sitting proudly perched on the hillside with seating outdoors with a roof to shelter from the hot sunshine or maybe a storm. I’m sure the hills would sound alive when the singing began.
